ENGLISH
ENGL 011
Introduction to basic reading, writing, spelling and grammar.
Prerequisite: Meet with an advisor.
ENGL 012
Builds on basic language skills studied in ENGL 011. Students gain confidence in reading short passages and writing simple correct sentences, as well as in setting personal goals.
Prerequisite: ENGL 011 or assessment.
ENGL 013
Course is designed to help adults read better. Emphasis is also placed on writing, spelling and introductory computer skills needed to succeed in other Adult Basic Education courses or in meeting learning goals.
Prerequisite: ENGL 012 or assessment.
ENGL 014
Learners acquire increased fluency in both reading and oral communications, as well as develop writing strategies.
Prerequisite: ENGL 013 or assessment.
ENGL 015
Builds on everyday reading and writing skills developed in Engl 014. Useful for developing strategies for dealing with personal, work and educational situations.
Prerequisite: ENGL 014 or assessment.
ENGL 016
Focuses on mastery of fundamental skills in reading comprehension, narrative writing and acquisition of study skills needed for success in ENGL 037 and other intermediate level courses.
Prerequisite: ENGL 015 or assessment.

ALFM 011
Introduction to Addition and Subtraction.
Prerequisite: Basic reading skills.
ALFM 012
Increase skills in Addition and Subtraction and Introduction to Multiplication.
Prerequisite: Math 011 and basic reading skills, or assessment.
ALFM 013
Increase skills in Multiplication and Introduction to Division.
Prerequisite: Math 012 and basic reading skills, or assessment.
ALFM 014
Focus on Decimals.
Prerequisite: Math 013 and basic reading skills, or assessment.
ALFM 015
Focus on Common Fractions.
Prerequisite: Math 014 and basic reading skills, or assessment.
ALFM 016
Focus on Ratio, Proportion and Percent.

COMPUTER STUDIES

Designed to provide adult learners with a basic introduction to computers including keyboarding, word processing, e-mail and the internet.
